Private Home Operations Assistant (Part-Time)

Suburban Virginia | Live-Out | Team-Based Household

We are seeking a part-time Private Home Operations Assistant to support a well-run, busy private household. This role is for someone who brings calm, good judgment, and follow-through to domestic environments—and who takes real satisfaction in knowing that things are being handled thoughtfully and well.

This is a role built on trust, autonomy, and mutual respect.

The Work

The Private Home Operations Assistant helps keep the household running smoothly, both day to day and over the longer term. Once something is identified, you take responsibility for it—tracking it, pursuing solutions, regrouping when a path doesn’t work, and closing the loop clearly.

The work includes:

  • Owning household logistics, projects, and personal administrative needs

  • Keeping the household stocked, organized, and functioning at a level beyond routine cleaning

  • Noticing what needs attention and taking initiative to address it

  • Following issues through to resolution and providing clear, concise updates

  • Being present in the home several days per week, with an eye toward what could be made easier or more orderly

A good day often ends quietly:
“Were you able to take care of that?”
“Yes—it’s done, and I’ve sent a brief summary.”

Independence and Communication

This role requires comfort making decisions and taking action independently. If something is delayed or blocked, you look for another way forward rather than waiting for instructions.

The principal values speed and good judgment. Transparency is equally important. It is always okay to say something didn’t go as planned or was forgotten—honesty and problem-solving matter far more than perfection. This is a supportive working relationship, not a punitive one.

Working in a Private Home

You will be working in close proximity to the principals and their family. Professionalism here means warmth without intrusion—being friendly and present when conversation is welcome, and easily moving into the background when the household is focused on its routines, family time, or work.

Optional (but Appreciated)

While not required, it would be a bonus if you enjoy or have experience with:

  • High-quality garment care, including responsibility for cashmere and dry cleaning (not routine household laundry)

  • Assisting with the coordination or execution of home events or parties

Schedule & Term

  • Approximately 20 hours per week

  • Part-time, with flexibility

  • Several days per week in the home

  • We are initially seeking a three-month commitment, with the hope of continuing long-term if the role proves to be a good mutual fit

Who This Role Tends to Suit

This role often suits someone with experience in private homes, operations, hospitality, or executive support—someone steady, capable, and comfortable taking ownership. You enjoy solving problems, creating order, and allowing others to move through their lives with less friction.

Who This Role Is Not For

This role is not a fit for someone who prefers constant direction, struggles with accountability, or needs to be at the center of attention. It is also not a housekeeping role.

Compensation & Application

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Please submit your resume to Heirloom, along with a brief note about your background and why this type of role appeals to you.
