The Rose Family
West Village | Live-Out | Full-Time House Manager
Our agency is partnering with a thoughtful, creative household in the West Village seeking an experienced House Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a studio-adjacent private home. This is a central, trusted role for someone who enjoys bringing order, calm, and follow-through to a quietly busy environment—and who thrives working with creative personalities.
The household includes the principal and their spouse, with an adult child who visits from college occasionally. The home is generally calm and private, with small, intimate gatherings hosted from time to time. This role is well suited to someone who is flexible in mindset, low ego, intelligent, and comfortable working behind the scenes to support a full and creative life.
The Role
The House Manager will be responsible for the smooth operation of the home and coordination of household staff, allowing the principals to focus fully on their work and personal lives. This role combines organization, judgment, and responsiveness, and is best suited to someone who enjoys being the steady throughline in a dynamic but grounded environment.
Success in this role looks like a home that runs seamlessly, staff who feel supported and coordinated, and principals who feel relieved knowing that the details of daily life are handled.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate household staff, including a full-time housekeeper and a part-time chef
Manage the maintenance and care of the home, including repairs, service providers, and deliveries
Serve as the primary point person for household operations and logistics
Handle art-related coordination and care, with training and guidance provided by the principal
Support personal administrative needs, including calendars, travel coordination, and errands
Prepare for and support occasional small gatherings and Thursday evenings that may include home gatherings or art events in the city
Communicate clearly and flexibly with the principals, primarily via text and in person
Anticipate needs, follow through independently, and maintain a sense of calm and order
(Financial matters are handled separately by the family’s accountant.)
Schedule & Flexibility
Full-time position with predictable hours
Thursdays may extend to approximately 8:00pm
Routine weekend work is not expected
Flexibility for up to one work-from-home day per week
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience in private homes, executive support, or a combination of both
Comfortable working with creative individuals and in studio-adjacent environments
Intelligent, adaptable, and solutions-oriented
Low ego, collaborative, and steady under shifting priorities
Strong organizational skills and sound judgment
Warm, personable, and comfortable communicating with a friendly, fast-moving principal
Someone who values fit, rhythm, and relationship as much as skill
Direct experience with visual artists is a plus, but not required. Curiosity, care, and good judgment matter far more than prior exposure.
Transition & Start
The outgoing House Manager is leaving on excellent terms and will be available to support onboarding and transition, offering continuity and institutional knowledge. The family is hiring thoughtfully rather than urgently, with the goal of a smooth and considered handoff.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive, top-of-market compensation
Health insurance and 401(k) offered
Stable, long-term opportunity for the right fit
