Full-Time Nanny / Family Support Lead

Our agency is partnering with a private household in Washington, DC seeking an experienced, thoughtful full-time nanny to support two school-aged children, ages 6 and 8. This is a sole-charge role for a family with demanding professional schedules, and it requires a nanny who is confident taking appropriate leadership while remaining collaborative and aligned with parental values.

The ideal candidate is a calm, proactive professional who enjoys supporting children’s emotional well-being, managing logistics related to their care, and helping a busy household run smoothly—without overstepping or becoming a household manager.

The Role

This position combines high-quality childcare with trusted responsibility. The nanny will serve as the primary day-to-day caregiver and point person for the children, coordinating routines, appointments, and school communication, while keeping parents informed and engaged.

Success in this role looks like children who feel secure and supported, parents who feel confident and connected despite demanding schedules, and a household that runs with clarity and calm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate care to two children, ages 6 and 8

  • Support children’s social and emotional development, independence, and confidence

  • Manage daily routines including school drop-offs/pick-ups, activities, homework support, and play

  • Transport children throughout DC using public transit, walking, or driving as appropriate

  • Take children to medical and dental appointments, communicating outcomes clearly to parents

  • Liaise with teachers and school staff, maintaining open, professional communication

  • Proactively identify and support opportunities for parent–child connection (shared routines, rituals, and meaningful time together)

  • Communicate regularly and thoughtfully with parents regarding schedules, progress, and concerns

  • Exercise sound judgment and take appropriate initiative within agreed-upon boundaries

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 4+ years of professional nanny experience, ideally with school-aged children

  • Comfortable in a sole-charge role and confident taking appropriate leadership

  • Warm, calm, and emotionally steady

  • Proactive, organized, and able to anticipate needs

  • Strong communicator who can represent the family well with schools and care providers

  • Discreet, empathetic, and trustworthy

  • Parenting style that is supportive and responsive, not rigid or authoritarian

  • Able to balance independence with collaboration and respect for parental authority

Role Scope & Boundaries

This role focuses on childcare and child-related coordination. It does not include:

  • Heavy housekeeping

  • Household management unrelated to the children

  • Personal errands for adults

Light child-related organization and coordination are expected as part of the role.

Schedule & Commitment

  • Full-time position, primarily weekday hours

  • Schedule aligned with school hours and after-school needs; some flexibility required

  • Long-term commitment preferred

Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work

  • Clean driving record

  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain

  • Comfortable navigating DC neighborhoods and school environments
